NIMRT aims to research on technology namely, Mushroom products, Mushroom post-harvest processes, services, and information.

Throughout the years, the NIMRT, through the R&D activities, has developed and generated technologies that are viable for adoption, particularly for the Medicinal Mushroom.

Mushroom Research focuses on improving medicinal & commercial mushroom production through disease control and studying and manipulating microbial ecology and population dynamics during the composting process. NIMRT  is one of the research facilities dedicated to mushroom research.

The emphasis of NIMRT’s current research program is directed toward basic and applied technologies of factors controlling mushroom quality. Investigations of cultural practices, reuse of spent mushroom compost, odor reduction, reducing losses due to green mold and other diseases, employing transgenic breeding techniques, identifying and enhancing unique nutritional and medicinal properties, and developing methods for producing specialty mushrooms. A strong adaptive research program contributes to the industry’s ability to solve problems on their farms.

The research and development of mushrooms forms a core branch of NIMRT. Since its establishment in 2023,

NIMRT Research Program Bureau:

The NRPB(NIMRT Research Program Bureau)serves as a frontier centre of R&D program for empowering participating individuals and groups to improve their quality of life.

NIMRT Research Extension Program Bureau:
NEPB is a flagship arm of NIMRT in Mushroom extension and rural development.
